We all have a role in children’s healthy development

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and National Week of the Young Child. Throughout the year the Person County Partnership for Children encourages the community to play a role in making Person County a place that prioritizes children’s healthy development and provide all young children high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life. When the community has the knowledge, skills, and resources to provide children with stable, nurturing and stimulating environments, we can prevent abuse and neglect before they occur. The Week of the Young Child™ is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children. The Person County Partnership for Children is hosting a week of events to celebrate Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Week of the Young Child.

Family-A-Fair is an annual event planned to end the week of activities. It is scheduled on Saturday at the end of the week and is always held at Huck Sansbury Park. There are many activities throughout the park with inflatable slide, moon walk, obstacle course, petting zoo, games, community awareness booths, train ride, kite flying, bike rodeo, and many other things for children of all ages.
