"All Person County children will be able to
enter school healthy and prepared for success."
Celebrating Person County Children and Families Week of the Young Child is an annual event promoting community awareness about issues concerning young children and their families, informing the public about available resources and promoting families spending quality time together. April is also "Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month" in North Carolina. People are asked to wear "blue ribbons" for prevention and awareness of child abuse. Each year there is a "children on the hill" silhouette display representing the number of abused and neglected children in the past year. Throughout the week, fun and educational events are planned for families and their children to encourage family quality time for all children and families within our community. Daycare centers along with home daycare providers are recognized throughout the week for the great contribution they make to our community.
Family-A-Fair is an annual event planned to end the week of activities. It is scheduled on Saturday at the end of the week and is always held at Huck Sansbury Park. There are many activities throughout the park with inflatable slide, moon walk, obstacle course, petting zoo, games, community awareness booths, train ride, kite flying, bike rodeo, and many other things for children of all ages.
