Partners in Literacy

The Partners in Literacy program provides a variety of literacy-promoting activities for the children and families of Person County. The partnering of all components of the various programs—the Imagination Library, Reach Out and Read, and Motheread/Fatheread provides the tools and materials to increase literacy.
All Person County children are eligible from birth through their fifth birthday, and every child in the family may participate. Books given to children through all programs, instruction regarding parent/child reading techniques, and the promotion of developmentally appropriate reading materials all will further literacy goals. The programs will also serve as outreach tools to offer related services and programs to Person County families.

Adults and Children in Education (ACE) provides work first parents the opportunity to work towards their GED as well as provide them parenting classes and opportunities to improve their literacy skills through the Motheread program.
